Tai Chi
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a mind-body movement practice with ancient roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, martial arts and qigong.
It is characterised by as series of graceful, flowing and circular movements. These movements are slow and controlled, incorporating deep focused breathing.
“Tai Chi does not mean oriental wisdom or something exotic. It is the wisdom of your own senses, your own mind and body together as one process.”
– Chungliang Al Huang

How does it work?
Tai Chi is easy to learn and can be performed by anyone of any fitness level and can also be done seated.
This low impact, gentle exercise is a moving meditation practice to cultivate life energy and improve overall wellbeing.
One hour of Tai Chi is often equated to one hour of brisk walking.

“Tai Chi brings together the body, the mind and the spirit. When it’s done correctly, the body almost feels like it’s floating because the mind communicates with the energy and the energy moves the body rather than the mind communicating with the muscles and the muscles moving the body.”
What are the Benefits?
“Numerous medical studies show the overwhelming benefits of Tai Chi, especially when modified programs address specific health conditions. Research shows a regular routine can prevent many health problems and help people to better manage the conditions they already have.” – Tai Chi for Health Institute
