Qigong

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is a gentle movement practice that can be done by anyone, no matter their age or fitness level.

It is a restorative exercise which originated in ancient China as a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Qigong focuses on internal body awareness by combining body, mind and breath. It replenishes energy (known as Qi) and stimulates the flow of Qi throughout the body to promote or restore health and vitality.

“Qigong is a practice of heart. A way of life.
Healing comes from the alignment of the body, mind and heart.”
– Chunyi Lin

How does it work?

Qigong incorporates gentle flowing movements with more vigorous movements, standing postures, breathwork, slow stretches and acupressure.

Regular practice is beneficial for balance, co-ordination and flexibility and has also been shown to improve cardiovascular and neurological health. It is also great for the release of physical, mental and emotion tension.

“When you cultivate balance and harmony within yourself, or in the world – that is Tai Chi. When you work and play with the essence of energy of life, nature and the universe for healing, clarity and inner peace – that is Qigong.”
